Quick definition Cloud computing is basically running applications on the web via “Software as a Service (SaaS)&#. That includes applications from Google Documents, to Salesforce.com, to Gliffy.com , (the service I used to create that graphic.) Also, you can access the applications anywhere you go.

In order to assist with the recovery, TechSoup Japan , a program of the Japan NPO Center , is working with Microsoft, Adobe, and Symantec to aid local nonprofit organizations whose facilities are damaged in the earthquake by providing software donations. A joint press release in English is posted in the TechSoup Global press room.

The others I assessed include DimDim , Yugma, and Adobe Connect. They are all cross-platform for participants, but none of these can show Linux desktops, and some (like Adobe in particular) can’t even run the presenter software on Linux. Problem is, I’m not a nonprofit organization. Wish I were! 13 Diego 11.04.07

I have had varied problems , from issues of software integration, video problems, wireless issues … The list is getting very long. On the Mac side, Apple controls the hardware, so there never is a problem with it. I know that the Adobe Air is alpha in Linux, but it’s worth trying out. And, guess what?
