Here’s the first post, there might be more to come.
The subject of nonprofits and blogging was very popular in 2006 and 2007. MySpace and Facebook weren’t being utilized by nonprofits in 2007 (except for a few early adopters) and Twitter did not exist. The main idea was to put a human face to your organization’s mission to better tell your stories and successes.
Online giving in 2008 was up 44% from 2007. Every so often a supporter will testify to your good work via a wall or blog comment. Facebook/YouTube/MySpace Comments and Twitter Mentions. Mobile lists are hard to build and most new subscribers come from pitches in e-Newsletters. Pitches in Tweets and Status Updates help too.

Perhaps you can tell me in comments. For the curious (well, OK, it was mostly me who was curious): There are 409 posts and 922 comments. Since since September 2007 when I started to use analytics, there have been 151,000 ish unique page views, and 106,000ish unique visitors. I don’t know how to answer.

And, as Dustin pointed out in the comments to my venting post earlier, a lot of this is not the fault of open source desktop software developers. Also, having used a Mac for so long, I’m also “it just works&# spoiled. In fact, what’s funny is that things that do in fact “just work&# with Linux almost surprise me.

July 15, 2007 As you will have undoubtedly figured out – this blog moved! Choosing a theme Migrate the posts and comments (exporting it from typepad, importing into wordpress – all web gui based, very easy. I’ve moved it off of Typepad, and onto Wordpress. I’d recommend it to anyone. There are a few changes.
A few tweaks (mentioned in the previous post,) and I was up and running with all posts and comments intact. This migration, unlike the Mac OS -> Ubuntu migration, has been completely painless. Add a few important plugins, and I’m back to where I was just a few days ago on Typepad.
